Rotation (nesting)
Rotation turns an item to another allowed orientation so its rectangular bounds may fit a sheet more efficiently. DTF gang-sheet packers commonly test 0° and 90°, but geometric permission is not semantic approval. Text direction, artwork intent, labels, grain, marks, cutting, or customer instructions may require a fixed orientation.
In practice
Declare rotation rules before packing, then review every turned item. An asymmetric test mark helps reveal a mistaken orientation in the RIP and physical output.
NestSheet’s current rectangular auto-nesting uses orthogonal 0°/90° candidates when rotation is allowed. It does not infer the customer’s directional intent.
