NestSheet vs Build a Gang Sheet — operator tool vs store widget

One takes orders in your storefront. The other prepares files at your prepress bench. They are different layers of the same stack.

Facts checked — competitor details are dated and sourced below.

The short version

Choose Build a Gang Sheet if you sell gang sheets through your own online store and want customers assembling their sheets in checkout. Choose NestSheet if your operator preps whatever arrives — store orders, marketplace sales, email attachments — and you want white underbase, spot channels and RIP presets on the way out. Shops that do both run both.

The comparison

What Build a Gang Sheet is — and what NestSheet is

Build a Gang Sheet (buildagangsheet.io, by Drip Apps) is a storefront app: it embeds a gang-sheet builder into a print business’s online store, so the person assembling the sheet is your customer, at order time (apps.shopify.com listing, July 2026). Its job is intake — turning “I want transfers” into a paid order with a print-ready file attached.

NestSheet sits on the other side of the counter. The person using it is your operator, after orders arrive from wherever they arrive. Its job is prepress: pack the film, get the white underbase right, write the spot channels, export what the RIP expects.

That difference — who builds the sheet, and when — decides everything else on this page, including the pricing models: a per-order fee on intake versus a flat subscription on prepress.

The honest split

Where Build a Gang Sheet is genuinely better

Every tool on this page is good at something — pretending otherwise would cost us your trust on the rest of the site.

Build a Gang Sheet wins when…

  • Selling gang sheets to the public: a checkout-native builder is exactly the right shape for that business, and NestSheet has no storefront widget at all.
  • Intake features built for customer self-service — their listing highlights sticker cut lines, rolling sheets and cloud-drive uploads (apps.shopify.com, 07/2026).
  • Distribution and track record in the widget category: their own published figures claim 4,600+ print shops on the platform (buildagangsheet.io, 07/2026).
  • Zero upfront cost: free to install and fee-per-sale can beat any subscription while your volume is small.

NestSheet wins when…

  • Prepress depth after intake: white underbase with choke, varnish channel, spot-channel PSD/TIFF — the layer a flattened storefront PNG never touches.
  • One bench for every order source, not only your own storefront.
  • A subscription with a monthly exported-area allowance instead of a percentage of each sale — predictable at volume, with a free tier to start.
  • Files written for your specific RIP, channel names included.

This is genuinely not either/or: intake widget in the storefront, NestSheet at the bench, RIP at the end. There is no automatic connection between the two today — files move by download and upload — but the workflow is common: the widget collects the order, the operator runs the file through prepress, the RIP prints it.

FAQ

The questions shops actually ask.

Is NestSheet a store widget or a Shopify app?
No. NestSheet doesn’t embed in a storefront and doesn’t take orders — it’s the tool your operator runs after orders arrive, wherever they arrive from.
Can Build a Gang Sheet and NestSheet work together?
Sequentially, yes: download the sheet or artwork from your intake flow, upload it to NestSheet, and do the prepress there. To be clear, there is no integration between the two products today — it’s a manual file handoff.
Why not print the widget’s PNG/PDF directly?
Often you can — if the flattened file prints well on your press, ship it. NestSheet earns its keep when you need control the flattened file can’t give: white underbase tuning, a varnish channel, spot-channel TIFF/PSD for the RIP, or repacking mixed orders onto your roll width.
Does NestSheet charge per order like the widgets do?
No. Plans are flat monthly subscriptions metered in exported m² — no percentage of your revenue, no per-sheet fee. The free plan covers 30 m² a month; see pricing.
