Eco-solvent pre-press for large-format jobs
Eco-solvent pre-press for vinyl, banner, canvas, wall graphics and vehicle wraps — with cut-contour registration and tiling for oversized prints.
Eco-solvent is a large-format workflow. Files are frequently 2-4 metres on the long edge, 300 dpi, with multi-gigabyte source artwork. Pre-press tools that load the full raster into memory fall over immediately on eco-solvent jobs. The pre-press side has to work tiled and stream-based, not flat-and-in-memory.
Cut-contour registration is the other pressure. Almost every eco-solvent job is cut afterwards on a Roland, Summa, Graphtec or GCC cutter. The cut path has to line up with the art precisely, and the registration marks the cutter looks for have to be in the exact format that specific cutter expects. A pre-press tool that gets this wrong produces visually-correct output that is useless because the cutter cannot read the marks.
The margins on an eco-solvent job are generous relative to DTF, but the per-piece cost of a mistake is a three-metre banner, not a sheet of film. Accuracy is the lever, not density.
What shops optimise for
- Trim and cut-contour registration — every eco-solvent job is cut afterwards, and the cut path has to line up with the art.
- Large-format handling — files can be 3 m+ and 300-dpi, and the tool has to not hang at import.
- Media-aware ICC — vinyl, banner, canvas and wrap all want different profiles.
What NestSheet does for it
- ✓ Large-format friendly — files open, preview and export without loading the full raster into memory.
- ✓ Cut-contour registration marks generated correctly for the cutter you are using (GCC, Summa, Roland, Graphtec).
- ✓ Per-media ICC profile pickable on export, not baked into the project.
- ✓ Tiling for oversized prints — split a 2 m × 4 m banner into four 1 m × 2 m tiles with overlap marks.
